Sinai Scholars Society

This semester, we once again have the Sinai Scholars Society
on UGA's campus!

Sinai Scholars is a society that was founded in 2005 with the goal of empowering a core of future Jewish leaders with theological literacy. The society provides funding to run a course on Judaism each semester at 45 campuses nationwide. The course is focused on examining the 10 commandments given to the people of Israel at Sinai from a modern, yet mystical, perspective. It provides members with the tools to analyze the ten commandments - the basic creed of Judaism - and derive from them the big ideas that drive Jewish religion, Jewish ethics and Jewish living in the modern world.
Each semester, 20 applicants are selected to participate in the course. The course consists of eight 2 hour sessions, an introductory session, a Shabbat experience, a Jewish life field trip and a graduation ceremony. Members participate in each session, which, at UGA's campus, will be led by Michoel and Chana Refson.
Applicants that complete the entire course are eligible for a stipend of up to $350.
